Growth mindset is the first step to being culturally humble or having cultural humility, an essential trait in a respectable SLP. Growth mindset means that you can put aside your own personal bias and admit that you don’t know everything. It is impossible to know everything, meaning we will make mistakes. If we’re open to new answers and diverse opinions, we can learn from those mistakes. When learning about other cultures, we should be curious and willing to accept the knowledge that people are offering. As we make new discoveries, we can integrate them into what we already know. The flowers growing represent the new things that we learn. As we continue to be educated in various cultures and subjects, the roots grow, combine, and connect with what’s already there.
