Description

The University of Cincinnati Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) is seeking a full-time, 12-month educator track faculty member to support a new clinical doctorate program in speech-language pathology (SLP-D). This 12-month position will begin in Fall 2026 with rank (Assistant or Associate professor) commensurate with experience.

Essential Functions

This position will contribute to the teaching, scholarship, and service missions of the department and college, largely supporting the teaching and clinically based research endeavors of SLP-D students along with regular teaching responsibilities within our department.
Teaching courses in the SLP-D program and mentorship of SLP-D student culminating projects will be a primary role for this position.
Additional responsibilities will include engaging in relevant scholarly activity and providing service to the CSD Department and the College of Allied Health Sciences.
This is an in-person teaching position with the potential for a hybrid format in the future.

Minimum Requirements

  • Doctoral degree (PhD or SLPD) in speech-language pathology or a related field; ABD candidates are welcome to apply but must have degree completed prior to August 2026
  • Experience teaching in a higher education setting, with at least one year (or several part time experiences to equal one-year) of experience
  • Demonstrated student mentorship experience with graduate students
  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more area(s) of specialization in speech-language pathology
  • Demonstrated evidence of services relevant to the SLP profession
  • Commitment to fostering innovation, impact, and a positive working/learning environment for everyone
  • Current knowledge and skills using technology, including educational learning management systems
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills including communication, problem solving, counseling, conflict management, and follow-through
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a part of an interdisciplinary team

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Current or eligibility for clinical credentials in speech language pathology (i.e., CCC-SLP)

THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences is housed on the Hayward campus and is part of the newly established College of Health. The Department has a three-pronged mission of teaching, research, and service in speech-language pathology and audiology. The Department currently has approximately 120 undergraduate and 100 graduate students, five tenured/tenure-track faculty, two full-time and one half-time speech-language pathologist clinical staff, as well as lecturers and part-time clinical supervisors. Faculty are actively engaged in research and scholarly activities with students, leading innovating projects in the Augmentative and Alternative Communication Lab, the Neurocognitive Research on the Rehabilitation of Language (NRRL) Lab, the Bilingual Stuttering and Linguistic Processing (BSLP) Lab, and the Multilingualism Lab.

The Norma S. and Ray R. Rees Speech, Language and Hearing Clinic includes eleven observable individual and group therapy rooms, one large group room, an aphasia treatment program (ATP), a fully equipped Speech Science Lab, a conference room, and an EEG test suite. The Department is accredited by ASHA’s Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) in speech-language pathology and is authorized to grant the Speech Language Hearing Services Credential approved by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC). A Bilingual Speech-Language Pathology Certificate program is slated to begin Fall 2027.

DUTIES OF THE POSITION: Please note that teaching assignments at California State University, East Bay may include courses at the Hayward campus, Concord Center, and/or Online campus. The policy and expectation of the California State University is that tenure-track faculty members will perform their duties within the state of California. Area of specialization is open but should complement the expertise of current faculty. Preferred candidates will be able to teach one or more academic courses from among the following content areas: linguistic and cultural diversity, speech science, voice, motor speech disorders, dysphagia, cognitive-communicative disorders, child language disorders and literacy. In addition to teaching, all faculty have advising responsibilities, assist the department with administrative and/or committee work, and are expected to assume campus-wide committee responsibilities.

RANK AND SALARY: Assistant Professor. Anticipated salary range is $80,928 to $85,080 per year. Salary is dependent upon educational preparation and experience. Subject to budgetary authorization.

Position

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders provides instructional expertise from culturally and linguistically diverse faculty members in both clinical and academic curricula. Required Qualifications

  • Doctorate in communication sciences and disorders or related field with an emphasis in developmental language disorders. Strong candidates in other areas of related expertise will be considered. ABDs will be considered but must have a doctorate completed before the appointment date.
  • Earned or are eligible/expecting to receive ASHA CCC-SLP.
  • Eligibility for immediate California licensure in speech-language pathology.
  • Knowledge/experience needed to teach courses such as developmental language disorders, autism, AAC, or speech/hearing services in schools
  • Evidence of strong potential for research leading to the scholarly publications necessary for tenure.
  • For associate rank, appointments to Associate Professor requires a record consistent with promotion to Associate Professor in the department personnel guidelines, such as evidence of an established record of teaching and peer-reviewed publications.

About the Position:

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, within the Robbins College of Health and Human Sciences at Baylor University, invites applications and nominations for a full-time Tenure Track Faculty position in Speech-Language Pathology to join our dynamic and collaborative team. We seek a scholar whose primary expertise in in child language development and disorders, with a particular emphasis in autism spectrum disorder and/or augmentative and alternative communication. Candidates with other specialties in speech-language pathology will also be considered. This tenure-track position requires teaching Communication Sciences and Disorders courses in areas of interest and expertise, as well as providing clinical education to students in the on-campus Speech and Hearing Center, if a CCC is held beyond the initial professional year.
